1. Check iPhone eSIM compatibility & carrier lock in 10 seconds
Open the Phone app and dial *#06#. If you see a 32-digit EID barcode number, your iPhone has an eSIM chip (note: dual physical SIM models sold in mainland China do not have eSIM).
Next, open Settings → General → About and scroll to Carrier Lock. It must say "No SIM restrictions".
- Supported models: iPhone XS, XR, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 series and iPhone SE (2020/2022)
- One-tap direct provisioning: iOS 17.4 or newer
- Manual activation code & QR code included on every order page
2. Install over Wi-Fi before your flight
Right after checkout (plans from 3.50 € incl. VAT; custom & group plans — price negotiable), your order page displays an "Install eSIM on iPhone" button alongside a QR code and manual SM-DP+ details.
On iOS 17.4+, tap the install button and confirm "Allow" when iOS prompts to add a cellular plan. Label the new line "Travel" so you can tell it apart from your Primary line.
| Method | Best when | Path on iPhone |
|---|
| 1-Tap Direct Link | Opening the order page on the same iPhone (iOS 17.4+) | Tap "Install eSIM on iPhone" → Continue |
| QR Code Scan | Viewing the order email on a laptop or second phone | Settings → Mobile Service → Add eSIM → Use QR Code |
| Manual SM-DP+ Code | No second screen and older iOS version | Add eSIM → Use QR Code → Enter Details Manually |
3. Correct Dual-SIM settings when you land
Keep your home SIM switched on if you need bank SMS codes or incoming calls, but make sure your iPhone never uses it for background data abroad.
- Settings → Mobile Service → Mobile Data: select your Travel eSIM and turn OFF "Allow Mobile Data Switching"
- Tap your Travel eSIM line → turn ON "Data Roaming"
- Tap your Primary (home) line → turn OFF "Data Roaming"
